The new audit rules for print publications from the Audit Bureau of Circulations came into effect as of, Friday 1 July, 2011 following a unanimous vote by the ABC membership. Members had until June 29 to lodge ballot papers.
The rules are the result of a comprehensive review of the print audit rules, initiated at the 2010 AGM by ABC members through the creation of a sub-committee of magazine, newspaper, advertiser and media buyer representatives.
The updated print audit rules address the changing publishing landscape which includes the move to greater transparency of reporting and provide increased accuracy and relevance of audited data. These changes are also future proofing the ABC Rules and Audit Guidelines to allow for the addition of updated digital sales rules.
