Profile Demographic Audit

A CAB Audit Service

This is an optional additional audit for publishers of business-to-business publications with a registered database of recipients.

Introduction To The Audit
The Profile Demographic Audit is an optional additional audit of a single issue annually that verifies the demographic of recipients of an audited business to business publication from data collected by the publisher.

Audit Periods
The audit is conducted on a nominated issue once per year. The Publication must have a current CAB audit certificate.

How Does A Publication Qualify?
Any publication with auditable demographic information about 20% or more of their Average Net Distribution qualifies to complete a Profile Demographic Audit.

The audit takes a detailed look at the recipients of a publication reporting on the job title / job function and industry classifications as well as any publisher collected demographic such as number of employees, budget approval etc. The audit also reports the method of request and the age of recipient’s requests.

What Qualifies?
Specific demographic data provided by a named recipient requesting to receive the nominated publication. The demographic must include job function / job title and industry classification questions and records can be up to 3 years old to qualify.

Written, email and telemarketing records can qualify and the CAB will work with members to create registration forms and provide guidance on relevant questions to ask.

Preparing For An Audit
Publishers prepare for an audit by collecting and preparing details about the recipients of a publication, for a nominated issue, to be audited annually. Each audit is unique and will be tailored to suit the distribution process utilised for each publication.

Please see the CAB Audit Guidelines for more detail on how the audit will be conducted.
