Paul Dovas has been appointed CEO of the ABC and CAB following the departure of Gordon Towell on August 27, 2010. Paul Dovas had been ABC and CAB’s Director of Audit Services prior to his appointment. Stephen Hollings, ABC’s Chair, welcomed Paul’s appointment “I am delighted that Paul Dovas has accepted the role of CEO and know that with his leadership the bureau will continue to increase its relevance and service to the media industry.”
The ABA has recently created a new role of Compliance Manager to ensure the quality control measures of every aspect of the audit and reporting processes continue to meet the highest standards.
As recently reported in The Australian, the media agency Maxus have announced they are only buying display advertising on websites that are audited by the Audit Bureaux of Australia “with immediate effect”. This comes after a recent round of support for audits from media-buying agencies (such as GroupM and OMD) who have begun to give more buying preference to audited websites.

On Thursday August 19, 2010 the CAB Board of Directors unanimously approved an amendment to the CAB By-Laws; By-Law 52 – regarding the regulation of Auditors.
The amendment to the By-Laws, which took effect from September 14, 2010, introduced a clause requiring CAB registered auditors or the firm employing the auditor to hold Associate Membership to CAB
The Chinese Epoch Times newspaper has completed CAB audits for each of its three editions in Australia, for the period ending March 2010, for the Sydney, Melbourne and Queensland editions.
