At the General Assembly held in late October in Korea, the CEO of the ABC and CAB, Paul Dovas, was appointed to sit on the new Digital Publications Standards Committee, due to Australia’s recognised leadership in this sector.

Dovas was re-elected to the executive board of the International Federation of Audit Bureaux of Circulations (IFABC) at the General Assembly meeting held in Seoul, Korea where the theme was ‘Innovate, Adapt or Perish’. He joins representatives from the UK, India, the Netherlands, Romania, Brazil, Poland and Spain.

The Annual General Meeting of the ABC was held in the offices of News Limited, in Surry Hills, Sydney on 25 October. A highlight was the launch of a review of the rules and analysis of Average Net Paid Sales to meet advertiser and agency requests for greater transparency and more granular reporting.

The ABC has cleared The Age – Fairfax Media Limited (VIC), The Sydney Morning Herald – Fairfax Media Limited (NSW), and The Herald-Sun – The Herald & Weekly Times Pty Limited (VIC) of any breaches of it Rules and Guidelines following an extensive investigation into the allegations made by Crikey and Mumbrella regarding the reporting of their Education Sales.

Attendees at the Annual General Meeting for the CAB on 20 October discussed the organisation’s plans to increase the level of engagement with advertisers and media buyers. The first of many CAB Auditor Accreditation training sessions to be staged around Australia was held in Melbourne on 28 October. These modules are part of a recently launched program to ensure the Bureau’s publisher members have access to the most knowledgeable CAB registered auditors who are up-to-date with today’s dynamic media auditing environment.

Australia’s number one property site, realestate.com.au, along with SBS, announced this month that they had gained approval from the Audit Bureau of Australia (ABA), certifying the sites are fully compliant with industry best practice.

The ABC and CAB’s Audit Manager, Arry Kusnadi, heads up the auditing team for the Bureaux, and he and his team members have wide-ranging experience in auditing practises.
