A project working to inventory media and advertising archives in Australia is seeking information. The Media Archives Project, based at the Centre for Media History at Macquarie University, aims to locate archives for all forms of media and the advertising industry, whether held by organisations or individuals.
The information gathered will be compiled into a publicly accessible database, indicating where the archives are held, an outline of what is in them, and what sort of access to them is possible. Every type of archive is of interest: outputs such as publications and ad campaigns, company and organisational archives, and private collections held by practitioners or enthusiasts. The project believes the database will encourage research into the history of media and advertising in Australia by industry and other researchers.
The project is asking anyone who holds such archives or has information on archival collections on media and advertising, to please contact Dr Nathalie Apouchtine on 0422 553 813 or (02) 9850 8828 or by email – map@humn.mq.edu.au
