Bundled Sales were introduced last year in recognition of the changing nature of consumer purchasing behaviour and the impact it was having on the publishing industry. To provide transparency on the use of Bundled Sales by publishers, a new category was introduced to highlight the % of Australian Average Net Paid Sales which resulted from Bundled Sales.

To fit in with the existing ABC reporting structure, Bundled Sales were defined as ‘not being an Event Sale or Multiple Publication Sale’ each of which have their own definitions and reporting categories. If you are considering reporting Bundled Sales, it is important that you run a test first to make sure the sales in question don’t qualify as an Event Sale of Multiple Publication Sale. If they fail to qualify as Event Sales of Multiple Publication Sales you can then explore their validity as a Bundled Sale.
